First Children School Students and Staff Celebrate Blind Awareness Month

  • First Children School Students and Staff Celebrate Blind Awareness Month

On October 19, 2017, First Children School staff and students celebrated Blind Awareness Month with various projects including writing their names in Braille and making canes with marshmallow tips.  The projects are on display at the school for the month of October so all students, staff, and families have the opportunity to enjoy them.  Blind Awareness Month was founded to help people understand the realities of living without sight.  The First Children School offers a specialty program for children who are blind or deafblind in addition to our other various specialty programs for children with disabilities.  We have several Teachers of the Visually Impaired and Teachers of the Deaf on staff at the school to meet the needs of our students.   For resources for the Blind and Visually Impaired, please visit the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Vision Impaired website.
