Transitions Program East Windsor Location

Opening in Winter 2018 !

The Transitions Program is an educational program for students with school refusal due to anxiety and/or depression.   Our Central Jersey school refusal Transitions Program serves students in grades 5-12. 


The Transitions Program in East Windsor offers:

  • Full day programming (8:34am-2:45pm)
  • A therapeutic environment
  • Individual and group counseling with an emphasis on Mindfulness
  • Small class size
  • Broad range of electives
  • Honors level courses
  • Diverse world language courses
  • Related services-on an individual basis
  • Behavior analyst consultation
  • Extended school year


The Transitions Program model was designed to meet the needs of New Jersey school districts… 

First Children Services is a New Jersey Department of Education Approved Clinic and Agency  for home instruction and counseling under our Regional Enrichment and Learning (REAL) Center division.  All Transitions Program teachers are NJ Department of Education certified and the program curriculum follows the NJ Student Learning Standards.  Students do not need a 504 or IEP to attend the program.  Transportation is the responsibility of the school district or parent.


Transitions Program  Counseling Services

Transitions Program counseling services are provided by our seasoned social workers who work closely with each student’s family and outside treatment provider to ensure continuity of care.  Counseling services include Mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, social skills,  and family support.

First Children Services also offers our Balance Program for students who are not able to attend the Transitions Program.
