Specialized Education Services

 

First Children School in Fanwood, New Jersey
  • Approved Private School for Children with Disabilities
  • Serving students in grades PreK-8
  • Specialized programs  focused on the needs of children who are medically fragile, developmentally disabled, deaf or hard of hearing, and/or visually impaired.

 

Transitions Program in Cherry Hill, NJ (Coming soon in Mercer County)

  • An educational program for students with anxiety challenges and school refusal
  • New Jersey Department of Education approved clinic and agency for home instruction and counseling
  • Serving students in Grades 5–12
  • Instruction that follow requirements set by the New Jersey Department of Education
  • Individual and group counseling sessions
  • Therapeutic Home Instruction option for students who are not ready to attend the academy

 

In-District Satellite Schools
  • First Children is approved to manage a First Children Campus within school districts
  • Serving students in grades PreK-12
  • Instruction that follows the Common Core and New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards
  • Related Services including behavioral, physical, occupational and speech therapies
  • Life Skills Programs

Home and School Based Services 

 

Home Based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
  • Children from ages 18 months and older with Autism Spectrum Disorder or related diagnosis
  • ABA Therapy delivered in the home by therapist trained and eligible for certification (Registered Behavior Technician)
  • Supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)
  • All forms of payment accepted including insurance and medicaid waivers

 

School Based ABA Therapy
  • ABA Therapy delivered in a school setting by therapist trained and eligible for RBT certification
  • BCBAs will assist teachers, therapists and administrative staff in establishing more effective behavior plans, monitoring outcomes and will make recommendations for approaches that may be more effective in classrooms

Classroom:
  • 1:1 or dyad instruction when working on IEP goals
  • Structured, visual, and interactive circle time
  • Centers approach (example: center 1: play skills; center 2: skill acquisition; center 3: fine motor activities)
  • Classroom will have visual supports including text, pictures and schedules for students
  • Each student will have an individualized reinforcement system and plan
  • Each student will have individually customized goals based upon their areas of need identified through assessments and teacher/parent feedback.
