We are honored to highlight Daniella’s perspective as she shares her journey navigating mental health while raising three neurodivergent children. Her insights offer a powerful reminder of the challenges many families face today, as well as the importance of maintaining emotional balance in order to support the people who depend on us most.
Be their Anchor in the Storm
Raising kids today isn’t just about schedules and milestones. It’s about navigating a world that feels louder and faster than the one we grew up in. For me, mental health isn’t a destination—it’s the ground I stand on so my children can feel steady and it isn’t always easy.
Between the digital noise of social media and the very real mental health challenges my own children face today, it’s easy to feel like you’re drowning in “what-ifs.” I know I do.
We spend so much time monitoring their emotions that we forget we are the atmosphere they live in.
Keeping yourself centered isn’t selfish. I’ve learned it’s a survival skill. To me, mental health means giving myself the same grace I give my kids. It’s the five minutes of silence, the walk around the block, or simply admitting, “Today was really hard, and that’s okay.”
We can’t protect them from everything, but we can teach them how to sail. And they learn that by watching us find our way back to the center. Stay grounded. You’re doing better than you think!”
We are thrilled to be able to share Daniella’s insights with all of you! At First Children Services (FCS), we understand that supporting children also means supporting the families who care for them every day. Through compassionate programs, collaborative care, and family-centered services, FCS is committed to helping children and parents build confidence, resilience, and lasting support systems together.
