Meet Allyson Katz, one of our amazing Special Education Teachers at First Children School!

Allyson is part of the dedicated team of educators at First Children School in Fanwood, NJ. She started working as a Special Education Teacher at Children’s Specialized Hospital’s Preschool/Primary program in 1998, and stayed in the same role when it became First Children in 2009. Having grown up with a family friend that had autism, Allyson felt inspired to work with kids with special needs. “I knew right away what my path would be.

Having been with the school for many years, Allyson feels like it is a second family. “We are a tight knit group of teachers, para-professionals, therapists, administrators, etc. that serve one purpose…. to provide the best care and opportunities to ALL of our students with special needs.”

“I love being able to see how far they’ve come. That is what motivates me to continue doing my best for my current students, because their potential is limitless.”

Through the collaboration of all departments, the students are able to get the best care and education that they can. Allyson’s impact is seen through the entire orgnaization and she’s valued so much by her team members, like First Children’s Human Resource Generalist, William White.

Allyson is amazing, not only as a teacher but also because of the little things she does to help out her team outside of teaching,” says White. “In the past she’s helped me with various IT responsibilities like my laptop charger. She’s helped troubleshoot issues with the printer and assisted staff with their emails when needed.”

Since Allyson began working as a teacher in 1998, she has seen many students succeed over the years. “I have seen tremendous progress and growth from my students from year to year.” Her dedication to these students shows in the success that past students have when they graduate and keep in touch.

“I love being able to see how far they’ve come. That is what motivates me to continue doing my best for my current students, because their potential is limitless.”
