School Based Mental Health Clinician

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and at First Children, our incredible team of mental health clinicians go above and beyond to support the children and students we serve. Meet School Based Mental Health Clinician, Nicole Davis, MA, LAC, R-DMT below!

My role at First Children is as a School Based Mental Health Clinician in district, serving mainly middle school and high school students who need extra mental health support.

I think it is so important that the school district I am working with is normalizing students to talk to each other about their mental health needs. I think mental health is just as important as physical health and the more it is normalized and not stigmatized the more people can get the support they need.

I always say that our mental health issues cannot be truthfully addressed with a “just deal with it” mentality and there is always a way we can feel better about ourselves and advocate for ourselves when we struggle. I specifically love working with teenagers because as teens, they are learning how to transition into being more independent and learning and exploring their own identity and self-worth.

I am passionate about helping teenagers speak up for themselves, empowering them to tell someone when they aren’t feeling themselves and helping their peers and friends when they notice someone might be struggling.
